Zakir Khan was born on August 20, 1987, in a modest bourgeois family in Indore (Madhya Pradesh). His family has a strong line of music and cultural ethos. His father, Ustad Ismail Khan, is a music teacher at St. Raphael School of Indore and his mother, Kulasum Khan, is a housewife. Zakir loves his two brothers, Zeeshan Khan, and Arbaaz Khan. Zeeshan is an upcoming singer.
In childhood, due to bullying, Zakir Khan had to change the school often. He recalled in an interview with ‘Chaipaani’ that his classmates intimidated him because of his unattractive appearance and a dark complexion.
Even nowadays, he continues to remember his so-called “unattractive” appearances to give himself an impetus to gain success by virtue of his talent and determination alone.

Zakir has great respect for his father for supporting him throughout his life and especially during his crises. His grandfather, Ustad Moinuddin Khan, was a Padma Shri award winner and an artist working for AIR (All India Radio) in Jaipur.
He was a singer and a prominent performer of classical musical instruments from Jaipur Gharana. His father Ismail Khan is another eminent musician. Zakir Khan started his sitar classes at the age of seven with his father and grandfather. Later, he graduated by playing sitar
He was educated at St. Paul’s High School in Indore but did not complete his studies. From his childhood, he participated enthusiastically in many shows and theatrical performances. Her hobbies include singing, writing poetry in Urdu, and composing songs.
