Nancy Jewel McDonie was born in Daegu, South Korea. Her mother is Korean and her father is American. This combination provided her with an ample cultural upbringing. She was partly raised in the United States. She later moved back to South Korea with her family.

Her older sister Brenda is a cellist. Music permeated daily life at home. Nancy was raised in the world of art, sound, and stage work. In school, she expressed an interest in singing as well as dance. Her family had encouraged her dream from the beginning.

Nancy went to Hanlim Multi Art School in South Korea. This school provides training for young artists on music and stage work. To name a few, there are so many K pop stars who have studied here. She graduated there in music studies in 2018.

Her training involved voice study, dance lessons and stage work. These years shaped her abilities leading up to breaking into the world of music.
